Head of Talent & Workforce Capability

About the role

The Head of Talent & Workforce Capability is responsible for leading Mercy Community’s talent acquisition, workforce planning, organisational development and learning and development functions, ensuring the organisation attracts, develops and retains a skilled, capable and mission-aligned workforce. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the role leads a small team of talent and capability specialists to deliver contemporary, evidence-based practices that respond to the current and future workforce needs of Mercy Community’s aged care, family and youth services. The role partners closely with service and operational leaders, People & Culture colleagues and the Executive Leadership Team to build organisational and leadership capability, support workforce planning through regulatory and sector change, and embed a strong learning and development culture across the organisation. 

You will:

• Lead talent acquisition, recruitment and onboarding strategies across Mercy Community.

• Drive workforce planning, succession planning and capability development.

• Lead organisational development, leadership development and change initiatives.

• Provide strategic oversight of learning, development, mandatory and clinical training.

• Lead Mercy Community's participation in the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme, including workforce recruitment, compliance and worker wellbeing.

• Provide workforce insights and advice to the Chief People Officer and Executive Leadership Team.

• Build strong partnerships with operational and service leaders to respond to changing workforce, regulatory and sector requirements.

About you

You will bring:

• Significant senior experience across talent acquisition, workforce planning, organisational development and/or learning and development.

• Experience leading a multi-disciplinary People & Culture team.

• Strong strategic thinking, stakeholder management and influencing skills.

• Experience developing workforce, capability and learning frameworks in a complex organisation.

• Knowledge of aged care, health or community services and relevant regulatory environments, or the ability to quickly build this knowledge.

• Experience with the PALM scheme or other sponsored workforce pathways.

• Excellent communication, reporting and analytical skills.

• A relevant tertiary qualification in HR, organisational psychology, business or a related discipline.

A postgraduate qualification and experience in aged care, health or community services will be highly regarded.
