The Connected Families team currently have a vacancy for a highly motivated, professional Case Worker to join our Toowoomba team in supporting the community on a permanent part time basis in Towoomba. The position offers a remuneration package of $68,096 - $73,269 per annum. 

The Role…

This role is responsible for quality service delivery to children, young people, families and the community within the Connected Families Program. This position will provide coordination for every phase of casework for families, from the point of referral to exit with a view to supporting highly vulnerable families to become stronger, capable and more resilient and improving overall wellbeing. 

 

About you

As the successful applicant, you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Social Science, Psychology or other related field.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the Queensland Child Protection system.
  • A clear, expressed understanding of the complex challenges facing families in contemporary society.
  • A well-developed professional framework (values, beliefs, knowledge, skills, systems etc) for working with vulnerable families to facilitate resilience and social connectedness.
  • Demonstrated ability to use systems (including software), time and resources effectively to track progress and meet deadlines.
  • Queensland Provisional Green or above Driver’s License.
  • Ability to obtain positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and any other legislatively required personal history screening as required.
  • Evidence of current vaccination against whooping cough or willingness to obtain prior to commencement, unless applicable exemption provided as per the relevant MC procedure.
  • Willing and able to work within a Christian context and Mercy Community’s mission, purpose and values. 

It is also beneficial to have:

  • Previous experience in strengths-based casework with complex families.
  • Experience in risk assessment processes.
  • Adult education/training skills.
  • Child health & development expertise including a broad knowledge of a range of safe parenting practices
  • An understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and societies and the issues which impact upon them in contemporary society together with a commitment to culturally appropriate engagement and practice.
