This position works in a speciality kitchen called the Cookery Nook at Mercy Community’s Corporate Head Office in Nudgee – on Brisbane’s Northside. The Cookery Nook provides light meals and drinks to the staff that work on site and their guests. It also operates as a catering service to external clients around Brisbane. The Cookery Nook is an inclusive space, focused not only on producing excellent quality meals and catering, but providing employment for people with a range of disabilities from a variety of backgrounds. To assist, the Cookery Nook’s head chef is looking for a new addition to the kitchen team – a catering assistant.
What will a day look like?
No two days are the same in the Cookery Nook. Apart from great fun and laughs with the team, your day will include preparing meals to fulfill catering orders, undertaking deliveries using the delivery van all around Brisbane and into the CBD (candidates must be confident driving and parking in the city), and face to face customer service. You will also assist people with various abilities with their tasks and responsibilities as required.
The Cookery Nook is open Mon-Fri from 8am-1.30pm. It is envisaged that you will work 30 hours/week from 6am-12.30pm on a permanent part-time basis. No weekend work is required!
Ideally, we are looking for a person with some experience working in a kitchen who has a genuine interest in helping others achieve their goals. If you are successful, you will receive a great permanent part-time salary plus salary sacrificing benefits (which increases your take home pay). You will also have access to our EAP program, ongoing development, and lunch daily! In addition, if you do not have a NDIS Worker Screening Card or Blue Card, we will pay for the cost of these!
This position is a fantastic way to continue your experience working in a kitchen whilst having fun and assisting people living with disability.

- Queensland provisional Green (or above) Drivers Licence.
- NDIS Worker Orientation Certificate (this is free to obtain online)
