Mercy Community is seeking a dedicated Family Response Coordinator to join our Family and Child Connect (FaCC) team in Townsville.

In this rewarding role, you’ll be the key connection point for families who need support — helping them access the right services, at the right time. You’ll work alongside a compassionate team that’s committed to strengthening families and building safer, more connected communities.

 This role involves but not limited to -

  • Engage with individuals, families, service providers and members of the community 
  • Gather sufficient information to inform an assessment of the family and identify service responses to meet these identified needs
  • Consult with the PCPP, Domestic and Family Violence Specialist and First Nations Specialist roles as necessary to assess safety and risk factors and ensure cultural safety
  • Provide information, advice, referrals, and linkages to relevant services based on assessed needs
  • Engage with families with multiple high-level needs through outreach, providing active case management and brief interventions

About you

As the successful applicant, you will possess:

  • Bachelor (minimum) Degree in Child Protection, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related discipline from a recognised institution.
  • Experience in strengths-based casework with complex families, alongside experience in identifying and addressing child protection concerns.
  • Experience in assessing the needs of families and completing safety and risk assessments.
  • Understanding of the child protection system, and issues impacting upon vulnerable families, including but not limited to substance misuse; domestic and family violence; mental health; impacts of trauma; homelessness.
  • Current and valid Provisional Green or above Drivers Licence
  • Current and valid Paid Blue Card (Queensland Working with Children Check) or ability to apply
  • Evidence of current vaccination against whooping cough (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
