About the Role

Mercy Community have an opportunity for a highly motivated, and experienced Group Facilitator / Counsellor. This is a 12- month, Part-Time Fixed Term contract based in our Ipswich office.

 

This position promotes, organises and facilitates psycho-educational groups delivered within the Mercy Community programs and provides individual and/or family counselling.

 

$88,099 - $94,792 (SCHADS L4) plus superannuation plus generous salary packaging available

 

What you’ll be doing

As a Group Facilitator / Counsellor your key duties will include (but not limited to):

 

  • Create and lead psycho-educational groups and materials
  • Promote psycho-educational groups to the local community
  • Manage psycho-educational groups including participant details, venues, registers etc
  • Ensure participants complete all evaluations required
  • Complete relevant assessments which underpin the therapeutic goals, intervention plans, casework and support for clients
  • Identify client needs and deliver appropriate services to assist clients in achieving their goals
  • Provide short/long term individual and/or family counselling for clients
  • Complete evaluations of psycho-educational groups, cases and program activities

 

About You

As the successful applicant, you will possess:

 

  • A degree in Counselling, Psychology, Behavioural Sciences, Social Work, or related discipline from a recognised institution
  • A sound understanding of statutory child protection processes
  • Demonstrated experience in group facilitation
  • You will hold a Provisional Green (P2) or above Driver’s License
  • Ability to obtain positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and any other legislatively required personal history screening as required
  • Membership within the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or the Australian Psychological Society (APS) (highly advantageous)
