About the Role
Mercy Community is look for a highly motivated, resilient, and experienced Counsellor - Sexual Abuse Counselling Program (SACP). Based in our Ipswich office on a Permanent Full Time basis.
(SCHADS L4) plus superannuation plus generous salary packaging available
What you’ll be doing
- Work with your line manager to identify client needs and deliver appropriate services within available resources, continually assessing and responding to changing needs and dynamics
- Conduct assessments to inform therapeutic goals, intervention plans, casework, and client support
- Offer short and long-term individual and family counselling in response to referrals, using various therapeutic interventions to address identified issues
- Ensure culturally appropriate counselling for clients from Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and CALD backgrounds by liaising with community members
- Establish and maintain trusting, meaningful relationships with clients and relevant stakeholders
About You
As the successful candidate, you will possess:
- Degree in Counselling, Psychology, Behavioural Sciences, Social Work, or related discipline from a recognised institution
- Proven experience in working therapeutically with children and young people
- Ability to maintain professionalism and implement cultural competency while working with clients and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
- A Provisional Green (P2) or above Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and any other legislatively required personal history screening as required
- Evidence of a current vaccination against whooping cough or willingness to obtain prior to commencement unless applicable exemption provided
