About the role

Mercy Community are on the search for a passionate Counsellor to join our team based in Toowoomba. We have 2 vacant positions to fill, with both being Permanent Full-time role –

  • 1x - Specialised role within our Sexual Abuse Counselling program
  • 1x – General Counselling program

This is your opportunity to work within an exciting and enthusiastic team, guided by an experienced Team Manager and Senior Program Manager.

Our Counsellors deliver counselling and therapeutic services to children and young people, encompassing assessments, pre- and post-evaluations, and interventions. Additionally, the role involves liaising with a wide network of stakeholders who contribute to or influence the success of client plans, referrals, and goals. 

$85,126.00 per annum (SCHADS level 4) plus superannuation plus salary packaging available

This role will involve but not limited to:

  • Work with your line manager to identify client needs and deliver appropriate services within available resources, continually assessing and responding to changing needs and dynamics
  • Conduct assessments to inform therapeutic goals, intervention plans, casework, and client support
  • Offer short and long-term individual and family counselling in response to referrals, using various therapeutic interventions to address identified issues
  • Ensure culturally appropriate counselling for clients from Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and CALD backgrounds by liaising with community members

About you

As the successful applicant, you will possess:

  • Degree in Social Work, Behavioural Sciences, Psychology or related discipline from a recognised institution
  • Understanding of family and/or individual counselling, in the areas of trauma, violence and abuse, mental health early intervention and counselling modalities utilized with these populations
  • Queensland Provisional Green or above Driver’s License
  • Current and valid Paid Blue Card (Queensland Working with Children Check) or ability to apply
  • Evidence of current vaccination against whooping cough (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
