About the role
Mercy Community are on the search for a passionate and dynamic Case Worker to join The Family Unit team based in Hillcrest/Browns Plains. This is a 12-month Fixed Term Part-time contract with flexibility of working 2 days each week, with the hours being 8.30am to 4:30pm. As the successful candidate for the Case Worker role, you will be responsible for undertaking a holistic assessment of the family and young person’s needs (including risk assessments) and providing targeted therapeutic interventions and group work activities to support vulnerable families with complex needs who are at risk of entering the statutory child protection system. Within this role, you will promote the safety, and well-being needs of children by observing the patterns of behaviour and interactions within the family and assisting families in practical ways to further develop positive family relationships, though the development of communication skills; psychoeducation; understanding and responding to challenges and systematic issues.
$43.08 - $44.20 per hour (SCHADS level 4) plus superannuation plus salary packaging available
This role involves but not limited to
- Conduct a psycho-social assessment of the family unit to evaluate family dynamics and identify their strengths and needs
- Develop, implement, and evaluate support plans to address these needs through the implementation of the case plan
- Take the lead in developing and coordinating the case plan, focusing on the family’s needs and strengths, and actively engaging with the family and other key agencies
- Implement practical in-home support to families to develop parenting knowledge and skills, and to improve family relationships, functioning and wellbeing
- Provide support to families and referrals to address more specialised needs, for example: mental health; substance misuse; Domestic and Family Violence
About you
As the successful applicant, you will possess:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Social Work, Social Science, Psychology, or related discipline from a recognised institution
- Knowledge of the Queensland Child Protection system and experience in completing risk assessments and assessment of family needs
- Current and valid Queensland Provisional Green or above Driver Licence
- Current and valid Paid Blue Card (Queensland Working with Children Check) or ability to apply
- Evidence of current vaccination against whooping cough (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
