Family Response Facilitator (Case Worker) - Moreton Bay

About the role

Mercy Community are on the search for a passionate Family Response Facilitator to join our Family and Child Connect team (FaCC). This is a Fixed Term Full-time contract for 9-months based in Caboolture (covering the Moreton Bay region).

The successful applicant will be responsible for quality service delivery to children, young people, families and the community within the Family and Child Connect service and to support vulnerable families to receive the right service at the right time. 

$43.08 per hour (SCHADS Level 4) plus superannuation plus salary packaging available 

This role involves but not limited to -

  • Engage with individuals, families, service providers and members of the community contacting the FaCC, both in person and via telephone
  • Gather sufficient information to inform an assessment of the family and identify service responses to meet these identified needs. This includes both an assessment of the family’s strengths and needs, working with the family to achieve their goals, and comprehensive risk assessments to ensure the safety of the children in the home
  • Consult with the PCPP, Domestic and Family Violence Specialist and First Nations Specialist roles as necessary to assess safety and risk factors and ensure cultural safety
  • Provide information, advice, referrals, and linkages to relevant services based on assessed needs
  • Engage with families with multiple high-level needs through outreach, providing active case management and brief interventions

About you

As the successful applicant, you will possess:

  • Bachelor (minimum) Degree in Child Protection, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related discipline from a recognised institution.
  • Experience in strengths-based casework with complex families, alongside experience in identifying and addressing child protection concerns.
  • Experience in assessing the needs of families and completing safety and risk assessments.
  • Understanding of the child protection system, and issues impacting upon vulnerable families, including but not limited to substance misuse; domestic and family violence; mental health; impacts of trauma; homelessness.
  • Current and valid Provisional Green or above Drivers Licence
  • Current and valid Paid Blue Card (Queensland Working with Children Check) or ability to apply
  • Evidence of current vaccination against whooping cough (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
