Early Childhood Coordinator - Browns Plains (Part-Time Fixed Term Contract)

About the role

Mercy Community are on the search for an enthusiastic and passionate Early Childhood Coordinator to join our Family Team based in Browns Plains/Hillcrest on a Part-Time Fixed Term Contract. Successful candidate must be able to start as soon as possible until 30/06/2026. The hours for this role is Monday to Thursday, 8.30am to 4.30pm.

Your contribution within this role is to ensure high-quality delivery of that promotes wellbeing, safety, and resilience of children and families. This role focuses on enhancing family capacity, fostering community connections and building confidence in accessing support services and early childhood education. 

Pay rate - $43.08 per hour (SCHADS Level 4) plus superannuation plus salary packaging available

This role involves but not limited to -

  • Actively seek out vulnerable children and families who are not currently accessing early childhood services, connecting them to culturally appropriate Kindergartens, Child Care Centres, and Playgroups.
  • Engage with families respectfully and authentically, supporting their ongoing engagement with services and facilitating smooth transitions to school.
  • Conduct assessments with families to understand their needs and goals, and collaboratively develop intervention and support plans to address these needs.
  • Support families by offering referrals and practical help to access health checks, immunisations, playgroups, and Kindergarten programs, as well as targeted and specialist services to address specific learning and developmental needs.
  • Collaborate with local community members, including Elders and organisations, to align services with community needs.

About you

As the successful applicant, you will possess:

  • Diploma in Early Childhood, Education, Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology, or a related field from a recognized institution, along with substantial relevant experience and knowledge in early childhood services
  • Knowledge of First Nations cultures and historical and contemporary impacts, with a commitment to respectful culturally safe engagement and practices.
  • Current and valid Queensland Provisional Green (P2) or above Driver Licence
  • Current and valid Paid Blue Card (Queensland Working With Children Check) or ability to apply
  • Current vaccination against whooping cough or willingness to obtain it before starting
  • Willingness to provide in-home based services to families
