Senior Program Manager - South

About the role

Mercy Community Services currently has an opportunity for a Senior Program Manager. This is a Full-Time Maximum-Term (October 2024 – April 2025) position supporting The Family Unit, Family and Child Connect and New Families Program.  This position is primarily based in Nudgee, but local travel within South-East Queensland is required.

This role is responsible for contributing to the overall leadership and management of the programs; delivering consistent implementation of best practice strategies to ensure the needs of children, young people and adults are met, giving them the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Salary: $124,844 - $129,764 (SCHADS L8) plus superannuation plus access to generous salary packaging

Reporting to the Regional Director (South), your key duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Leading and managing a portfolio of services and programs for families, children, young people, and adults to ensure quality service delivery
  • Using models of practice, guidelines, and frameworks to assist clients in achieving their goals
  • Working collaboratively with the Regional Director to deliver appropriate services within available resources, continually assessing effectiveness and responding to changing needs and dynamics
  • Leading, mentoring, supporting and supervising staff and role model Mercy Community values and frameworks
  • Performing day-to-day and formal evidenced-based supervision for direct reports and oversee this process for all indirect reports, in line with organisational procedures
  • Assisting the Regional Director to respond to, and effectively resolve, client/stakeholder complaints promptly
  • Preparing reporting against service agreements, other reports required and submit these reports to the Regional Director/funding bodies in required timeframes
  • Regular travel across service catchment/delegated programs
  • If required by the service / operations, provide rostered after hours on-call support
  • Engaging in reflective practice and participate meaningfully in regular supervision sessions
  • Other duties as directed

About you

As the successful applicant, you will possess the following:

Essential

  • Tertiary degree in Social Work, Psychology or related discipline and significant relevant experience
  • Proven leadership experience within a social welfare context including team supervision, financial management and conflict resolution
  • Proven experience and understanding of Child Protection
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of the Queensland child protection system
  • Queensland Provisional Green or above Driver’s License
  • A positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and the ability to obtain any other legislatively required personal history screening as required
  • To either have completed or willingness to complete the Hope and Healing modules

Desirable

  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Experience in collaborative program arrangements with the Department, other service providers, and key stakeholders
  • An understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and societies and the issues which impact upon them in contemporary society together with a commitment to culturally appropriate engagement and practice
